Indeed, Filipinos have our own unique ways of showing everyone how great we can be (and have become!) through the many achievements we made. From excelling in sports to becoming one of the greatest singers abroad. From cooking tasteful local dishes to making exceptional dresses. From composing popular music to producing well-made films. We do it in almost all fields one can think of.
A notable field that Pinoys are proven to be good at is Technology – due to the emergence of many locally-made inventions that help people live conveniently. One good example is the SALt Lamp (Sustainable Alternative Lighting) that lets you get a natural lighting system through the use of salt water. And just recently, a Filipino-made on-demand transportation app has been launched in Manila servicing the working population in the city through the help of their driver partners. The app is exclusively developed for taxi drivers and taxi operators in the country paving a way to a better transportation system most especially for the cab operators.
How the taxi-hailing app, Micab, started?
“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” -Vincent Van Gogh
In 2012, the founders Eddie Ybañez (Founder & CEO) and Kenneth Baylosis (Co-Founder & CTO) first proposed the app as an SMS-based taxi-hailing solution at an entrepreneurial event in Cebu City. They thought of a way to help ease the hailing process of the Cebuanos, thus, improving the app to a fully developed on-demand application which was later called, Micab App.
What separates Micab App from other on-demand application?
Aside from being the very first Pinoy-made hail a taxi application to ever launch in the country, Micab also embodies a selfless goal of helping the taxi drivers regain the market they originally have and to annihilate the bad reputation nailed into them by the unfortunate experience from the people.
It is also the first taxi-based on-demand transportation service that gets its funding from transit and digital advertising so as not to add any additional fees to the passengers. We install taxi top displays as a form of advertising as well as utilizing the driver’s tablets for online marketing.
The taxi driver partners still have the ability to pick up passengers through street hailing but are more encouraged to use the app for a more secured and convenient transportation. The passengers are serviced with a Safer and Better Ride with the app’s cool features. All of which are for free and accessible through your mobile phones.
Micab will never stop looking for some more room for improvement! For inquiries and suggestions, email us at [email protected].
